Saving recipes

How do I save a recipe from Instagram?

On the post, tap the paper plane (Share), then Half Stop. The first time, scroll the row of apps to the end, tap More, then Edit, and add Half Stop to your favourites so it's always there.

Can I paste a link instead?

Yes. Copy the post's link in Instagram (Share › Copy link), then in Half Stop tap + › From a link (or Paste a link on an empty library). Public posts work this way; for a private account, take a screenshot instead.

Do I still have to type the settings in?

No. Half Stop reads the recipe from the caption or the slides. If a setting is missing or unclear, it shows you which one to check instead of guessing, and you can fix it before saving.

What if the recipe is only in a reel or a screenshot?

Reel captions work like any other post. If the settings are only shown in the video, take a screenshot of them and share that, or tap + › From a link › Read from screenshots. Screenshots are read on your iPhone, with Apple's text recognition; nothing is uploaded.

A post has several recipes. Do I save them one by one?

No. Half Stop finds every recipe in the post and lets you save them all at once, or only the ones you want.

Does it keep the creator's credit?

Always. Every recipe keeps the creator's name and a link back to their post, and the share cards you make put their handle on the card.

Sending to your camera

Which cameras and cable do I need?

A Fujifilm body with an X-Trans IV or X-Trans V sensor, or a recent GFX, and a USB-C cable that carries data. The full list, with what each camera supports, is on the Cameras page.

Which USB mode should the camera be in?

On the camera, set Network/USB Setting › Connection Setting › PC Connection Mode › USB RAW CONV./BACKUP RESTORE. Half Stop shows you this the first time you connect.

Half Stop doesn't find my camera

Check, in this order: the camera is switched on and in the USB mode above; the cable carries data (many charging cables don't, so try another one); your iPhone is unlocked; and camera access is allowed in iPhone Settings › Half Stop. If you use an adapter or a hub, try plugging the camera in directly.

Will it overwrite the custom settings I already have?

Only the slot you pick, and it asks before replacing it. You can see what's in C1–C7 before you send, put back what was there if you change your mind, and with Pro keep backups of all seven slots.

What does "read back" mean?

After sending, Half Stop reads the slot from the camera and compares every setting with the recipe. The Sent page says when they all match, and lists any that the camera didn't take so you can set them by hand.

Something didn't go in. What now?

The Sent page lists the setting. Set it in the camera's menu, and if you can, tap Report this under the note: it opens an email with what the camera answered, which helps fix it for everyone with that camera.

Does it set ISO and exposure compensation too?

Those live on your camera's dials, not in the custom slots. After sending, Half Stop shows the ISO and exposure the recipe calls for, so you can set them before you shoot.

What if my camera doesn't have that film simulation?

Half Stop checks every recipe against your camera. If it uses a simulation your body doesn't have, like Reala Ace on an X-Trans IV camera, it tells you and suggests the closest one it does have.

Can I set a recipe up without sending it?

Yes, on any camera. Every recipe has a checklist in the same order as your camera's menus, which also works for older bodies that can't take recipes from an app.

Bluetooth

Can I send without the cable?

On the X100VI, yes. In Half Stop, open Settings › Bluetooth. On the camera, open Network/USB Setting › Bluetooth/Smartphone Setting › Pairing Registration, then tap Pair and allow it on both. After that, Send to camera works over Bluetooth whenever the cable isn't plugged in.

Bluetooth won't connect

Close Fujifilm XApp and other camera apps: the camera talks to one app at a time. Check the camera's Bluetooth is on, it's on its shooting screen and no menu is open. If Half Stop says the camera has forgotten this phone, go to iPhone Settings › Bluetooth › your camera › Forget This Device, then pair again from Half Stop.

Which settings can't be sent over Bluetooth?

Monochrome tint, D-Range Priority and custom white balance, for now. Half Stop lists them on the Sent page so you can set them in the menu. Everything works over the cable.

When will Bluetooth work on my camera?

Other cameras are being tested. The Cameras page is updated as each one is confirmed.

Half Stop Pro

What's free, and what does Pro add?

Free: 10 imported recipes, one collection, sending one recipe at a time with put back, and setting up by hand. Recipes imported from your camera and the samples don't count towards the 10. Pro adds unlimited recipes and collections, sending a whole collection at once, camera backups, comparing recipes, your own photos on recipes, iCloud sync, and backup and restore.

How does the free trial work?

New subscribers get 7 days free. You're charged when the trial ends, unless you cancel at least 24 hours before. Half Stop can remind you 2 days before the end: turn it on when you start the trial.

What is the founder price?

Until 30 December 2026, Pro Yearly costs less, and you keep that price for as long as you stay subscribed. The Pro screen shows the price in your currency.

How do I cancel?

In Half Stop, Settings › Manage subscription, or in iPhone Settings › your name › Subscriptions › Half Stop. You keep Pro until the end of the period you paid for.

I bought Pro but don't have it

Open the Pro screen (You › Try Pro free, or tap any Pro feature) and tap Restore Purchases, signed in with the Apple Account you bought it with.

Can I get a refund?

Refunds are handled by Apple: go to reportaproblem.apple.com, find Half Stop and choose Request a refund.

Privacy and your recipes

Where are my recipes kept?

On your iPhone. There's no account, no ads and no tracking. With Pro you can sync them through your own iCloud; nobody else, including us, can see them.

iCloud sync isn't working

Check you're signed in to iCloud, iCloud Drive is on, and your iCloud storage isn't full: when it's full, iCloud stops accepting new data and your recipes stay on the phone until there's space again.

How do I move my recipes to a new phone?

With iCloud sync on (Pro), they appear on the new phone on their own. With Pro you can also use Settings › Back up recipes to save a .halfstop file, then Restore from a backup on the new phone; restoring only adds recipes you don't already have.

Is it safe for my camera? Does it affect the warranty?

Half Stop only changes the slot you pick, reads every setting back afterwards, and can put back what was there. Sending uses the camera's own backup and restore mode. It isn't made or endorsed by Fujifilm, so connecting your camera to it is at your own risk and may affect its warranty.

Is there an Android or iPad version?

Half Stop is for iPhone. It isn't on Android, and there isn't an iPad version yet.
