Help with Half Stop

Half Stop saves Fujifilm film simulation recipes from Instagram posts, links and screenshots, keeping the creator's name and a link to their post, and sends them straight into your camera's C1–C7 custom slots over USB-C.

Common questions

How do I save a recipe from Instagram?

On the post, tap the paper plane, then Half Stop. The first time, scroll the apps to the end, tap More, then Edit, and add Half Stop to your favourites.

Do I still have to type the settings in?

No. Share the post to Half Stop and it reads the recipe from the caption or the slides. If a setting is missing or unclear, it shows you which one to check instead of guessing.

What if the recipe is only in a reel or a screenshot?

Reel captions work like any other post. If the settings are only shown in the video, take a screenshot of them and share that, or use Add a recipe › Read from screenshots. Screenshots are read right on your phone.

Which cameras and cable do I need?

A Fujifilm body with an X-Trans IV or X-Trans V sensor (such as the X100V, X100VI, X-T4, X-T5, X-S20 or X-E5), or a recent GFX, and a USB-C cable that carries data. On the camera, set Network/USB Setting › Connection Setting › PC Connection Mode › USB RAW CONV./BACKUP RESTORE.

Will it overwrite the custom settings I already have?

Only the slot you pick. You can see what's in C1–C7 before you send, put back what was there if you change your mind, and with Pro keep backups of all your slots.

Does it set ISO and exposure compensation too?

Those live on your camera's dials, not in the custom slots. After sending, Half Stop shows the ISO and exposure the recipe calls for, so you can set them before you shoot.

What if my camera doesn't have that film simulation?

Half Stop checks every recipe against your camera. If it uses a simulation your body doesn't have, like Reala Ace on an X-Trans IV camera, it tells you and suggests the closest one it does have.

Is it safe for my camera? Does it affect the warranty?

Half Stop only changes the slot you pick, reads every setting back afterwards, and can put back what was there. It isn't made or endorsed by Fujifilm. Sending uses the camera's own backup and restore mode, but connecting a camera to an unofficial app is at your own risk and may affect its warranty.

Where are my recipes kept?

On your iPhone. There's no account, no ads and no tracking. With Pro you can sync them through your own iCloud.

Is there an Android version, or wireless sending?

Not yet. It's iPhone first, over a USB-C cable. Wireless is being tested.
